Foster carers thanked for their commitment

FOSTER carers have been thanked by the county council's fostering service for their commitment to young people at a special dinner and dance.

More than 110 carers from across the county enjoyed a bit of well-earned fun with their own version of Strictly Come Dancing at the Cavendish Hotel in Eastbourne.

All carers who work with East Sussex County Council's fostering team and the Children's Disability Short Break and Fostering Service were invited to the evening which is one of a number of different events held during the year to recognise their contribution.

After the event Cllr Meg Stroude, lead county cabinet member for children and families said: "Our foster carers do a simply magnificent job and their dedication and commitment to supporting, helping and providing a home for young people is absolutely marvellous.

"Whilst they would never ask for thanks we do try, whenever we can, to show them how much we appreciate the fantastic work they do and this evening was simply an informal event to say thank you."

At the event, Cavendish head chef Marc Becett produced a Mediterranean tapas menu. It was the first time that the hotel's newly refurbished Marine Restaurant had been used for a function.

Ken and Lorraine Russell from Klubjive who run dance groups in Bexhill and Eastbourne came along to demonstrate and teach a modern jive dance called LeRoc.
