From Sceptic to Homeopath

JOHN Love freely admits he was the biggest sceptic going when his sister suggested he try homeopathy to treat his tonsilitis. To his surprise, the treatment worked and it changed his life.

Ten years later, 36-year-old John, from Rustington, is now a fully qualified practising homeopath, having studied hard for four years at Regents College in London to obtain his licence.

He decided to become a homeopath because he was fascinated by the entire concept and wanted to help people in the same way he had been helped with his illnesses.

"Homeopathy treats the whole of an individual, so it is holistic it looks at all the person s signs and symptoms.

"It stimulates the body s own immune system; 'like cures like is the phrase commonly associated with it," explained John.

He likens the human body to a ruler suspended on a pivot. If the ruler is moved off-balance, the pivot will regulate the ruler to make it hang straight again.

"Say the pivot is a bit rusty, the ruler will stay off-balance. In the same way, the human body sometimes fails to regulate itself," he added.

John explained how a homeopath would look at the signs and symptoms and prescribe the patient a treatment which would cause those same signs and symptoms in a healthy person.

This gives the body s own immune system a massive jolt, making it spring into action to cure the disease.

John practises at his surgery at 14 Manor Road, Rustington, as well as holding a surgery every Wednesday morning at Littlehampton Natural Health Centre.
