Gardens give up their secrets

GARDENING enthusiasts were able to enjoy a rare glimpse behind the walls of some of the town’s secret gardens recently.

Seven gardens were open to visitors to raise funds for a number of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Help the Hospices and Cross Roads Care.

The open gardens were Rye View, Kings Leap, Five Chimneys. Alards, Periteau House, Cleveland House and South Mariteau.

Teas were served in the church to raise money for the church and for Demelza children’s hospice.

Six of the gardens, and four others, will be open again for the National Garden Scheme on Saturday June 30.
