Golden boy Jack's date at the palace

A Bognor Regis young achiever had an important date with the Buckingham Palace last week when he received his gold Duke of Edinburgh (D of E) certificate.

Jack Beadle from Bay Walk, was presented with his award by Prince Philip, the D of E's patron and founder.

Over a period of more than 18 months, Jack, a former pupil at St Philip Howard Catholic School in Barnham, had completed a rigorous regime of volunteering, physical skills, a expedition and a residential commitment.

Jack, who also plays football for Pagham Football Club, has recently embarked on a degree in accountancy at York University.
