Grand result for music festival's fundraiser

THE Mayor of Bexhill, Councillor Stuart Wood, opened a 2011 Bexhill Festival of Music fundraising event at the seafront home of Cllr Tony Mansi, chairman of the festival, last Sunday.

Around 150 people basked in the glorious sunshine and were treated to afternoon tea and a superb concert by Sussex Brass. The Hartfield Road event was sponsored by the Bexhill Chamber of Commerce and raised more than £1,000 for the newly formed Bexhill Festival of Music charity.

This year’s festival, which has run throughout June, concludes this weekend. Tonight (Friday, July 1) there is an an open mic night at No 48, Devonshire Road, Bexhill. Admission is free and more details are available by calling 01424 736600.

And tonight and tomorrow see the final performances of Copacabana by the Bexhill Light Operatic and Dramatic Society, the BLODS, at the De La Warr Pavilion, Marina, Bexhill. Evening shows start at 7.30pm and there is also a matinee tomorrow at 2.30pm. Call 01424 229111 for bookings.
