Greg praises scouts

THE determination shown by the 9th Bexhill Scout Group in the face of adversity has impressed town MP Gregory Barker.

The 9th are currently sharing the 2nd Bexhill's Buckhurst Road headquarters following the arson attack in April which destroyed their Wainwright Road headquarters along with Rother's store of refuse wheelie bins.

Commenting after meeting the Scouts during weekend fund-raising, the MP said: "I was really impressed by the generous people who were responding to the collection by the Scouts on Saturday.

"They are, of course, a very deserving cause and play an important role in providing activities for local kids.

"I told the Group Scout Leader that any help I could give would be willingly offered and I stand ready to assist them with their fund-raising drive.

"I thought I would find them down but in actual fact they seemed very upbeat and are sticking to the task of raising money with real gusto."
