TWENTY jobs have been created with the expansion of a Littlehampton business.

HiTek Power, which designs and makes electronic high voltage power supplies, has seen sales grow by more than 50 per cent in the last year, and so is set to grow.

The new jobs will be at the company’s Hawthorn Road headquarters, in the purchasing, stores, production, testing and engineering departments.

Chief executive, Carey Austin, said: “Like most companies, we went through a particularly difficult phase at the start of the economic downturn, but following continued investment in new products, a lot of perseverance, support and hard work by the whole workforce, we are now fortunate to be in such a positive position and looking to the future.”

In the last year there has been massive investment in the business, with a number of technical innovations being added to the manufacturing facility, and HiTek is expected to expand still further next year.

More than 100 people work at HiTek’s Littlehampton headquarters, making it one of the town’s biggest employers, and it has a further 13 staff in the USA, Japan and mainland Europe.

The business has seen a number of name changes since its formation in 1972, with bases in Worthing and Bognor Regis, before it moved to Littlehampton in 1995.
