A dozen fire crews fought the blaze at the Sea Road landmark as hundreds of bystanders looked on.

A number of people were moved from their homes for safety reasons.

Flames could still be seen as dawn broke on Saturday.

Parts of the building, which had been boarded up for two years, were demolished on Monday.
