Insight into the life of a spin doctor

An interesting insight about working as a government spin doctor was given to members of the Bognor Regis Twinning Association.

Malcolm Graves, the son-in-law of one of the association's members, has served as a senior press officer for the past 30 years.

Most of his career has been in the Treasury where he is experiencing a busy time because of the financial situation and the approaching Budget.

Without giving away any government secrets, he explained how his job involved the preparation of press releases. Gaining the confidence of both ministers and the press was essential.
