Inspectors''outstanding'report forchurch school

Religious inspectors have judged a Bognor Regis church school to be outstanding.

St Mary's Catholic Primary School was considered by the assessors to deserve their highest rating.

Their overwhelmingly positive judgments of the school delighted headteacher Katherine Amaladoss and governors' chairman Tony Lucas.

'We are very proud to have received such a wonderful report with so much to celebrate about what makes St Mary's distinctive,' she stated.

'We are committed to continually improve, while ensuring the specialness of every child, and our Christian mission, is at the heart of all we do.'

The Glamis Street school, like all aided schools, is subject to regular inspections under the Education Act 2005.

The assessments, which are distinct from the Ofsted visits, look at a school's leadership, its Catholic life, provision for worship, religious education and its overall effectiveness.

The report compiled by the inspectors after their visit late last year has just been published.

It describes the staff at St Mary's as '˜an exemplary team led by an intuitive headteacher who are responsible for the school's success in making every pupil feel valued and every family feel included'.

It went on to say the school had outstanding systems for care, guidance and support which recognise individual needs and nurture confidence in all pupils.

The inspectors added that the school was making good progress in religious education as well as providing well planned collective worship.
