Karen tops Littlehampton open art competition
Her atmospheric picture, Breakwater, of a young woman perched on timbers above the incoming tide, was the favourite of people attending the exhibition, which ended last month after running through the summer.
This year’s Open, with the theme Deep Blue Sea, attracted entries from a record 87 artists, amateur and professionals from across Sussex, with 78 being selected for the show, and contributing 116 pieces of work.

Hide AdMuseum curator Juliet Thomas said she was delighted with the standard of work in this year’s exhibition.
Helen Dungey, from Rustington, was second in the public vote with her painting, Beautifully Blue, and Brian Castle, from Worthing, took third spot with his wood sculpture of a dolphin.
Next year’s Open will be held later in the year and the theme will be ‘Fire and Ice’. More details will be announced in the spring.
