Largest ever pass the parcel at Littlehampton

ON Wednesday December 1, the largest ever pass the parcel will come to Littlehampton, giving away toys, gifts and an abundance of Christmas cheer as it travels around the UK, to break a world record.

The giant gift-wrapped parcel, created by family superstore Woolworths.co.uk, contains the top selling toys for Christmas 2010, including Jet Pack Buzz Lightyears, Paper Jamz Guitars and V Tech KidiZoom Video Cameras – some of which will be given away to local families when it hits town on Wednesday.

Littlehampton is the fifth stop on the parcel’s ten city tour and was chosen for this very special visit thanks to a letter written by Natalie Brady, 34, an underwriter from Yapton.

Natalie’s letter, written on behalf of her four year old son Isaac, told Woolies that Littlehampton should be included on its parcel route because:

“I think Stan and Ollie should visit Littlehampton because my mummy says it doesn’t snow by the sea very much or for a long time like other places in England because it’s too warm, so if they come they might bring the snow here for longer, and we can all have snowball fights and build snowmen just like them.”

Woolworths’ Dan Rubel, marketing director, “We’re now looking to the people of Littlehampton to help us on our way to breaking this massive world record. Come to the High Street on Wednesday at 3.30pm and help our Woolies snowmen Stan and Ollie to remove a giant layer and not only will you be making history but we have also got bags of treats to give away to the first 100 people who come find us as well as a few extra surprises.”

Woolworths’ giant parcel is the size of a Ford Ka and started the tour weighing in at 440.9lb. So far it has delivered over £4,000 of toys to families over the course of 1,125.5 miles of a two-week tour of the UK, which will see the parcel eventually passing through 10 towns and cities.

As well as coming to Littlehampton on Wednesday afternoon, the parcel will also be stopping at Worthing hospital at 11am to give toys to the children’s ward.

According to Guinness World Records, Littlehampton has only ever been part of one world record breaking attempt which was for the largest g-string back in 2001 for The Body Shop UK.
