Littlehampton lifeboat saves broken cruiser

A REFITTED and revitalised Littlehampton lifeboat dealt with its first call out on Saturday (March 27).

Crews were called at 11.21am to rescue a motor cruiser which had broken down in the sea off Littlehampton on its way to Worthing, and they towed the stricken vessel into the visitor moorings, by the Harbour Board office.

They responded to the call on board Blue Peter I, which at eight years old has been refitted, which consisted of complete strip down and having many components, from electrics to engines, replaced. An on-board camera was also fitted.

Nick White, of Littlehampton Lifeboat Station, said: "It means performance-wise we effectively have new boat, but it is still our Blue Peter 1."
