Littlehampton skydivers take the plunge for special children

CATERING staff at a Littlehampton factory canteen had a happy landing on Saturday (September 27), when their sponsored tandem skydive raised around £500 for a children's charity.

Heavy fog at Swindon Airport kept the three-strong TnS Catering team grounded at Redlands Airfield, Swindon for more than four hours, but they finally took the plunge from 10,000ft at 5pm.

Manager Adrian Turner, 40, Anita Welch, 37 and Robert Chadwick, 33, jumped in aid of the Lennox Children's Cancer Trust, which provides direct practical, emotional and financial support to children, and their families, suffering from cancer and leukaemia.

The three, who work in the canteen at Parker SSD Drives, Wick, were given moral support by colleague Nikki Hunt, 45, who watched from the ground.

Said Adrian: "To say the least it was the most exhilarating experience in the world, falling 5,000ft in 30 seconds at 120 miles per hour, then being safely guided back to ground by the instructors."
