Local groupsupport eyesaving charityin its work

MORE than 50 members of Brede and Udimore Overseas Group enjoyed a summer lunch and talk by Dr Corrie van den Bosch from the Sightsavers charity it supports.

Dr Corrie, who has a Rye area connection going back many years, said there were 39 million people suffering from eye disease often leading to total loss of sight. It is Sightsavers aim to educate and train people and to try to eradicate the cause as well as to cure those affected.

This could be through better hygiene or drugs.

At the end of the lunch she was presented with a cheque for £350 by member Rosemary Crouch.
