Middleton dancers' Easter spirit goes to their heads

DANCERS in Middleton let their latest fundraising success go to their heads.

The 12 members of the Middleton Old Time Dance Group wore Easter bonnets when they handed over another charity cheque.

The 300 donation to St Wilfrid's Hospice took the total raised by the group for the good cause to about 2,000 in the past four years.

Dr Sandra Mather accepted the latest cheque on behalf of the hospice.

Group organiser Julia Cole said the money came from raffles held at the Wednesday afternoon dances at Middleton's Jubilee Hall.

Some 40 dancers turned up to enjoy the presentation along with the regular old time and modern sequence dancing.

Those who wore bonnets decorated them with chicks, nests and eggs.

"Everyone had a hot cross bun and took home a creme egg," she explained. "It was a bit of fun but also helped a good cause."
