Middleton group elects new chairman

The October meeting of the Middleton on Sea WI was very busy.

After the president Mrs Barbara Markland had welcomed members, it was down to business.

Treasurer Mrs Chris Smith read out the financial statement for the year.

The group at the moment has 68 members and two dual members and each meeting, on average, is attended by 56 members.

Secretary Mrs Vivienne Arnold read out a report on the group's activities for the past year.

It was then time to vote for a new president and committee. The current president felt that it was time to step down after nearly three years.

Members elected a new committee and voted for Mrs Carol Parr as the new president. Members all wish her well in her new capacity.

The outing in September to Mrs Monica Lucas's garden was very enjoyable and, although it had poured with rain, when the group had a cream tea in the village hall next door, Mrs Lucas put on a lovely slide show on the progress she had made in her garden.

A birthday party for the WI will be held in November for the members only.
