The motorcyclist was treated at the roadside by paramedics and a doctor from the Kent Air Ambulance before being flown directly to a specialist hospital in London.

The rider later died in hospital. The occupants of the Tigra were treated for shock at the scene but were otherwise uninjured.

The smash caused long tailbacks on the main seafront road between Bexhill and Hastings yesterday afternoon.

Traffic was stopped to let the helicopter land on the road and allow treatment to be given to the rider.
