New Tesco creates 24 jobs in town

A NEW Tesco Express store opening in Cooden Sea Road, Little Common, today (Friday) has created 24 new jobs but underlined the desperate need for employment in the Bexhill area.

Each vacancy, filled locally with Job Centre help, attracted more than four applications.

Tesco store manager Sean Butchers said: “I was thrilled by the response we received to our recruitment drive.

“In this time of economic uncertainty, it is great that we are able to create jobs and help get people back into work.

“I am really pleased with my new team.”

The store celebrates its launch at 10.30am today, when Corinne Gardner, chairman of Bexhill’s Tree of Hope Children’s charity, will be guest of honour, cutting a ribbon and accepting a £500 donation towards helping sick youngsters in the UK.

Regular store opening hours will be 7am – 11pm, seven days a week, and for added convenience the store will have a free cash machine, National Lottery Counter, bakery, beers, wines and spirits as well as two self-service tills.

Customer car parking is available at the store.
