NINFIELD BOWLS CLUB: The sun has been out and shone on Ninfield Bowls Club. On June 29 they played Hastings, winning 74-72. A win on July 1 against Winchelsea, 88-48, saw the club gain a valuable 10 league points. They played Hamden Park on July 3, which resulted in the third win of the week of 76-45. Unfortunately, the club lost their final game of the week against Peasmarsh on July 4, losing 70-89. On Tuesday, Ninfield hosted a club from Surrey (a members previous club) with 9 ends before and after lunch. Next week I will be able to let you know how they got on.

U18 FOOTBALL TEAM: A player of Ninfield’s U18 football team has been approached to sign for Eastbourne Borough. They obviously wish him well in his future career as he has been a stalwart in the side last season. The good news is, like felling the tallest tree in the forest, it allows others to grow, so they look forward to the team raising their game next season! They are always looking for potential new players, so any young lads in the village that want their own chance to show their skills and be developed by great coaches, please contact via their facebook page Ninfield United U18’s or get in touch via the Village Voice or through Chris in the shop. Should any girls that have been inspired by the Woman’s World Cup and would like to give the boys a run for their money be interested, you are also welcome to get in touch.

NAGS: The Ninfield Action Group are continuing to campaign against the building of houses within the village. As well as housing, the group have highlighted other developments that could also impact the village: such as the proposal of a road from Ninfield Road, near the Freezeland Lane junction, crossing Watermill Lane south of Cockerels Farmhouse, to join the new Link Road. There will be two bridges, one across Watermill Lane and the other in Sidley and the sole purpose is to open up north-west Sidley to about 1,000 houses and factories. HOOE OPEN GROUP: The Hooe Open Group next meet today, July 10, with the presenter will be Jonathan Lindsey who has been in the theatre for many years, his talk is entitled “Magical Thinking” which should prove most entertaining. If you are interested in joining a very friendly group of like minded ladies, why not go to Hooe Village Hall at 2.30 p.m., you will be made very welcome. COFFEE MORNING: St Mary’s Church, Ninfield, are holding a Coffee morning tomorrow, Saturday July 11, from 10.00 a.m. - 12 noon at the Reading Room. A Bring and Buy with Raffle will also be available. Go along to have coffee, pick up a bargain and meet your friends.

MESSY CHURCH: The next Messy Church at Ninfield Methodist will be on Wednesday, July 15, straight after school from 3.30 - 5.30 p.m. (meeting & ending as usual at Ninfield Methodist Church). The theme this month will be ‘A Summer Picnic’ exploring Colour, Light and Treasure. They will be walking from the church to Church Wood. The afternoon will end with a picnic meal for children & parents together. They look forward to seeing friends & families for this good time together. (Children ages 4 - 11 yrs).

NINFIELD LOCAL HISTORY GROUP: The next Ninfield Local History Group meeting is on Thursday, July 16, when Ian Gledhill will be talking on ‘Oh we do like to be beside the seaside’ which I am assured will be another evening not to be missed. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The Horticultural Society are holding their Summer Show on August 15. Please put the date in your diary and start to plan your entries. Schedules are in the village stores.

FLOWER FESTIVAL: A date for your diaries: The Ninfield Flower Group’s Flower Festival “On the Box”, is August 29 - 31, 10.30 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Ninfield Memorial Hall. All money raised this year is going to local charities.
