Help bring books to life for pupils in Arundel

BUDDIES are needed to help bring the magical world of fiction to life for schoolchildren in Arundel.

Arundel CE Primary is looking for adult volunteers to pair up with pupils in a bid to boost the youngsters’ reading skills.

The children will read aloud to their buddies, who can them help them learn new words which the pupils might struggle with.

The school is also looking for adults with a special knowledge of topics the schools hopes to study, to come forward and bring lessons to life.

Volunteers will need to spare about one hour a week.

The Lions’ main mission is to help people of all ages less fortunate than themselves through a range of fundraisers.

New members are desperately needed to support fundraising events and other projects throughout the year such as fêtes, carnivals and Christmas collections.

No experience is required. Club meetings take place at the Worthing Rugby Club on the first Tuesday of each month.

n Community champions are needed to help an animal rescue charity bolster its coffers.

Worthing and District Animal Rescue Service – better known as Wadars.

The group receives no Government funding for the work it does rescuing wildlife and re-homing domestic animals; Wadars relies totally on donations and legacies from the community.

As a fundraising champion, volunteers will work mainly in their own community and will organise events and co-ordinating other helpers.

The role is a great chance to get out and about, meet lots of new people and help a charity to change the lives of some of the area’s most vulnerable and needy animals.

n A range of roles are on offer at the Arun and Chichester Citizens Advice Bureau in Littlehampton.

The organisation offers free information and advice on everything from debt and housing, to welfare benefits, employment and legal issues.

The centre is looking for volunteers to man the following roles: gateway assessor, advisor, healthwatch champion and vice-treasurer.

Where relevant, full training will be provided by the CAB.
