During this crisis bench cash could be better spent

I DON'T believe it '“ the government is going to spend a huge amount of taxpayers' money (£480,000) on what they believe will be a worthwhile project, the world's longest bench, on Littlehampton seafront (Gazette, October 23).

Surely, this money could be better spent building a couple of hostels for those losing their jobs and unable to afford to pay the mortgages on their homes due to the economic crisis?

But, I suppose, the seat will be useful for all the expected unemployed and homeless to sit or sleep on over the next coming two or three years when the hostels are full.
