Half my waste is council clippings

Regarding green waste charges, 50 per cent of my green waste is from cutting the council’s wide verge in front of my property.

Living in a rural area we are not mollycoddled by council gangs cutting grass - a tractor races past once a year spewing up a 60cm wide band.

If we want the area to look decent we must keep the verges cut using our own mowers burning our own petrol.

If we must opt in, it is only fair that we can opt out off paying for the services we do not receive, ie gritting, street lights, litter picking etc.

The council will not latch on to this idea!
