I have little sympathy

HAND-WRITTEN as my computer is out of order until I can save £60 to have it repaired ...

I’m sorry, but I have little sympathy with all the people currently in work whingeing that they are not getting a pay rise and that fares are rising.

Just wait until you become a British pensioner. If you are very lucky, you may get a two or three pound a week increase.

Thanks to the last government, the meagre extra we got through SERPS was plundered so that we got no increase on what we paid for.

I am not sure of the exact figures, but I hear that when you are, I think, 80 years old you get a cheque for 85 pence. What an insult. A cup of coffee or a glass of wine becomes a luxury.

As this country no longer makes anything to last, there is a constant stream of things to be repaired or replaced.

Ten years ago I had - all in perfect working order - a 25-year-old fridge, a 15-year-old television, an eight-year-old washing machine ... the list goes on and on.

Now, my 18-month-old computer and television are declared old and in need of replacement, so workers be grateful for what you have and make the most of it while you can.
