LETTER: Fab fireworks

I would like to congratulate the bonfire society on all their hard work and the success of Saturday evening with the parade, fire and firework display, which were all great.

However, having gone out at 7.30pm expecting the parade to be soon, we had to wait around for two hours before the fireworks.

I live locally and families with their young children started arriving around 6pm and by 7pm the area was humming.

They then had to wait around for over two hours before seeing anything.

Lots of children were crying and upset at getting cold and chilly, and some even went home before anything started.

Is there a reason why everything is on so late?

People that haven’t got a programme, because they live out of the area, come expecting everything to happen not too long after it is dark.

It must also be a bit draining for all the youngsters in the parade to have to wait around for so long before the parade starts.

Perhaps in future it can be held earlier, unless of course there is a specific reason why everything must be so late?

Hope they made lots of money though as their hard work certainly deserves to be successful.
