What a joy to see so many young girls having such fun with their wonderful singing and dancing at the Sussex West County Guide Choir concerts!

The Windmill Theatre provided a perfect setting for their two concerts and many of their families and friends came to support them, along with members of the public.

The girls ranged in age from the Brownies (aged 7 and up), Girl Guides, Rangers, young leaders and senior leaders – all working together harmoniously as befitting such a worthwhile organisation.

Musical director Julie Robinson expertly took the girls through their paces, whether from the piano, guitar, a cappella or with backing tracks.

Producer and stage manager Joan Salmon also accompanied on guitar with two other leaders, and her daughter Lou sang an affecting solo from ‘Chess’.

Along with a variety of songs, including a solo from Lauren Weller, the girls entertained with Scottish sword dancing, a South African gumboot dance and a Salvation Army timbrel routine, with colourfully be-ribboned tambourines.

Not to be outdone, one of the girls’ brothers, Alex Glossop, gave a guest performance on drums called ‘Frantic’ (it was!) and accompanied a couple of songs, finishing up in style with the very popular Rhythm of Life.
