LETTER: Lest we forget

A recreation ground which lays behind East Preston Church and Vicarage Lane has had a sizeable piece of the field planted with many poppies and other wild flowers – many unknown to me – in recognition of the First World War.

I understand from the local people that 14 of these gardens have been sown in and around Sussex – another being at Arundel Castle.

Praise must be given to whoever thought of doing this and for those concerned with the gathering of the seeds.

It is a beautiful tribute.

Approach the poppies via East Preston Church through the churchyard or via Vicarage Lane, adjacent to the fields.

Visit, admire and reflect on the meaning of them.
