Live and let live '“ it's been a tough year for ice-cream sellers

I WRITE in response to Tiffany Miles' letter (Gazette, October 16), regarding ice cream vans calling during October.

Maybe Ms Miles is unaware of this, but the majority of ice cream sellers are self-employed and are trying to make a living despite another typical british summer and the effects of the credit crunch, increasing fuel costs, etc.

If these people don't work, they don't get paid.

Would Ms Miles rather that these businesses go under just because she thinks it's the wrong time of year for them to ply their trade?

I applaud these small businesses for trying to keep going despite everything.

I feel quite strongly about this as a friend of mine is a self-employed ice cream seller and has had a very tough year.
