I would like to comment on the Blackfriars development site in Battle.

The picture in last week’s Bexhill & Battle Observer looks more like a prisoner of war camp.

Then it says 70 affordable, does that mean 130 are not affordable to those local people in need of a home?

We are told we need more houses and we must plant more trees for the environment.

We are importing 40 per cent of our food. Has anyone thought about how we will feed the nation in future years?

Land is bought by investors who often don’t farm the fields - its just grazed on a temporary letting.

We need to have a layout and design to have a self-sufficient garden in all new estates to feed the residents and two thirds affordable not one third. Even better to pay the developers to build the homes, give the £10,000 profit per house, then we could have homes for £120,000, not £350,000.

Then we would not have to work most of our lives to pay rents or mortgages, which in turn means travelling to work, adding pollution to the environment with traffic gridlock.

I just wonder if there is anyone on Rother Council with the wit to bring this to the planning table? Probably not!
