Last week saw Sarah battle the weather to be back at her ‘quieter than usual’ brownie stall at Horsham’s Local produce market in the Carfax, after having several months off after the new arrival of ‘bite size brownie’ baby Katie Isla.

Sarah, owner of the brownie business told us: “The first week back after Christmas is always the slowest. People have either eaten far too much, or are still eating chocolates left over from the holidays, so the last thing they would want to be eating is a chocolate brownie!

“Although, saying that, it was really lovely to see some of my regulars again, that always come, whether rain, wind or shine, and they certainly had the rain and wind to contend with last week! I have really missed the interactions whilst I have been away, although Niamh, Doug and Emma have done a splendid job looking after the stall whilst I’ve been off, and I’m very grateful to them.

“But meeting my customers is the part I love the most about my job, actually getting to talk to the customers, getting their feedback on flavours and their ideas. Also, you just get to know them personally.”

Just Brownies will be celebrating its 3rd Birthday in April, and with a huge 1000th order, just around the corner, and 100th mail order from her website www.justbrownies.co.uk things just haven’t slowed down.

In fact, with a recent mention in ‘Zest’ Magazine, Sarah found herself inundated with orders for destinations all over the UK.

“To be honest, I’m glad it has calmed down a little now,” said Sarah. Adding: “It went a little crazy at one point, and I thought I would end up going a little crazy too - I totally underestimated how time consuming a baby was.”

Sarah decided at the end of 2013 to reduce the amount of wholesale outlets she was supplying, and just concentrate on her 3 main ones, being: Swains Farm Shop, Henfield, Village Larder, Washington, and Crates Local in Horsham, Along with her stall in the Carfax, which has a new look, and new position for the 2014! You can now find Sarah and her brownies opposite Fat Face clothing store as you exit Swan Walk (North)’.

Gift wrapped mail order brownies also available also from her website www.justbrownies.co.uk for birthdays, thank you’s, congratulations or just a treat, or pop along and see Sarah on a Saturday at the market 9am till 4pm.
