Rocking up for charity to aid children

Wisborough Green and Loxwood residents ‘rocked up’ for the launch of a new local charity, set up to raise funds for local children in need.

The Magic Carpet Appeal’s first event was held in Loxwood Hall, and saw two local bands The Greenbacks and Rock Docteurs perform to a capacity audience raising well over £2,000.

Dr. Al, lead singer of the Rock Docteurs, said: “What a great night for a wonderful cause. Everyone was ready to rock and had their dancing legs on.

The Greenbacks really got the evening off to a flying start, and from the first note of our first set, we knew this was all a bit special.”

The appeal’s first objective is to help a nine-year-old local resident who lives with cerebral palsy.

The charity hopes to raise enough funds to buy her a magic carpet. These interactive projection systems provide an amazing learning experience through interactive play.

One of the appeal fund’s organisers Antonia Ogden Meade said: “The magic carpet will truly be life-changing for her and her family.

“It was an outstanding night and we were delighted by everyone’s generosity and the fantastic performances. We have more events planned this spring, including a bike ride, a family walk and other music events.”
