Royal celebration as Tudor monarchs take to town centre

Henry VIII, Edward VI and other monarchs of the Tudor period came to life in Horsham town centre on Saturday February 9.

Christ’s Hospital pupils, wearing their distinctive Bluecoat uniform and staff in Tudor costume, treated shoppers to music, singing, science experiments and tasty snacks all themed around the historical period.

The event was arranged to celebrate the school’s 460th anniversary of its founding and an exhibition ‘460 years in the making’, currently on display at Horsham Museum and Art Gallery in the Causeway.

Leonard Crosbie (LDem, Trafalgar), chairman of Horsham District Council, said: “It was a great pleasure for me, on behalf of Horsham District Council, to welcome pupils and staff from Christ’s Hospital to Horsham Town Centre on Saturday.

“In spite of the cold and sleet, they did a magnificent job of promoting the exhibition at our Museum.”

Free to enter, the exhibition finishes on Saturday February 23.
