Support for The Springboard Project

They were taking part in the Bill Rouse Day of Caring, when Liberty’s 400 staff in the US and UK spend the day helping their communities in memory of the company’s founder Bill Rouse, who died in 2003.

The Springboard Project was established in 1992 and aims to support disabled children and young people to enjoy active, social lives.

Their adapted play centres help to build life skills, enabling greater independence and enhancing wellbeing. They promote inclusive play and welcome all children along with their families.

Derek Lloyd, Associate Director, Development of Liberty, said: “Our team had a great day at the Springboard Project’s Horsham Centre, decorating two of the rooms, installing an air conditioning unit and helping to enhance their outside space.”

“As a company, we recognise how important it is to be part of the local community and contribute in whatever way we can – and the Day of Caring enables us to offer practical help to charities that provide a vital service for local communities”.

Vickie Toms, a Service Delivery Manager for the Springboard Project, said: “It means so much to us that Liberty Property Trust has chosen us for one of their amazing volunteering days. As a charity it can be hard for us to find funds and time to make much needed improvements to the house. Staff and members have been really looking forward to this day.”

The Bill Rouse Day of Caring usually takes place on the Friday nearest to Bill’s birthday, June 19.

Projects Liberty staff have been involved in so far include Leybourne Grange Riding Centre for the Disabled; Spadeworks; Burham Youth Club; Maidstone Centre for the Homeless; Help the Aged Day Centre in West Malling; two Scout camp sites in Loose and Sittingbourne; the Quest School in Offham; Dandelion Time in West Farleigh; Rock UK Carroty Wood Adventure Centre, Tonbridge; the Scotts Project Trust, also in Tonbridge; and Quest School in Paddock Wood.

North of Horsham is a proposed mixed-use sustainable development providing around 2,500 private and affordable homes and 500,000 sq ft of modern energy efficient business space, all supported by amenities and associated infrastructure.

North of Horsham has been included in the emerging Horsham District Planning Framework to provide much of the solution for the district’s long-term growth and Liberty will be bringing forward a planning application later in the summer.
