Surprise at structure

I WAS surprised to read in the Observer that the De La Warr Pavilion Trust does not think that the large concrete structure that has arisen in front of the building will detract from the view of or from the Pavilion. Will these misguided fools who run the Pavilion now re-instate the wind break that was removed?

This was, I was informed, removed as it was not in the original design and did not fit into the Trust’s view of how the Pavilion should look.

How times have changed when you see all the work now going on at the Colonnade.

Whilst once re-instated it will not obscure this hideous blot on the landscape, visitors will once again be able to sit on the forecourt without being blown in all directions as they eat, drink or just try to relax.

It may also lead to the re-instatement of the various outside entertainment that in years past kept us entertained, ie dancing and bands for which the forecourt was placed there.

I fear this will not happen, as the Trust has its own agenda and it has nothing to do with what the people of this town and the Rother tax payer want.
