World's longest bench? Not if the beach is inaccessible

REGARDING the front page story about the proposed seafront bench (Gazette, October 23), it will not be "the world's longest" unless it is a serious intention that the promenade and/or the beach should be inaccessible to pedestrians and others at any point between Mewsbrook Park and Pier Road.

If that is not the case, by definition a "series of benches" will not qualify as a continuous seat.

If this intention is correct, then the expression "engage brain" springs to mind.
