Town needs a boost

AFTER reading your article in the Bognor Regis Observer, we feel we would like to make a comment about the remark that Cllr Baldwin made about Bognor Regis being a dump.

We exhibited at a wedding fayre in Middleton-on-sea earlier on this year, and the majority of the people we spoke to were locals who came from Middleton, Felpham, Elmer, Aldwick and Rose Green, who had never heard of our shop, and said that they do not shop in Bognor.

Instead they shop at Chichester, Rustington and Worthing.

The comments were that Bognor was a rundown town and not worth shopping in; also they were unhappy with the amount of foreign people in town and do not feel safe, especially in the evening.

It seems that Littlehampton has gone forward and is now a respectable place to visit, but Bognor is declining rapidly. Yes, we have Butlin’s, but take that away and there’s nothing left.
