Parents delighted by local help

The story of five month old Finley Horne is one that touched Observer readers.

His parents Andria and Ricki Horne spoke about their fight to get their little son treatment for plagiocephaly and torticollis and say they are pleased by local response.

At present the Conquest does not offer treatment for the condition which affects a growing number of babies, and is characterised by flattening of the skull and neck spasms.

Finley is receiving physiotherapy for his neck but there is risk of permanent damage without treatment to the flattening of the skull.

Andria, of Sea Road, said: "We arranged a face painting event on May Day and FOSS (Friends of Surestart) donated all the proceeds. We have had donations and offers of help and sponsorship from lots of businesses.

"Marina News has only just reopened after their devastating flood yet gone out of their way to support Finley and the charity, as has new business, Kerry's wine bar.Martine Pells from the Battle Osteopathic & Pain Management Clinic is Finley's osteopath and has also made a great contribution. We have had help from the residents of Normanhurst, House of Cards, Sainsbury's, Tesco, The Surgery, Lifestyle physio/gym, Bexhill business centre, Boldwood books, Scatterbox, Black Pearl Tattoo Shop, Parent Scope, and new hairdressers, The Retreat, Clambers and Hastings Direct.

"We're delighted at this response. After the piece in the Observer, we also appeared on BBC South East News."
