Pavilion hire costs set to rise

FEES and charges for the De La Warr Pavilion are to rise by the rate of inflation.

A report to the Regeneration and Tourism Committee on Monday will recommend an inflation rise of 2.75 per cent should be build into the fees for the council-owned Pavilion from April 2002.

Charges for filming within the district on land owned by Rother and East Sussex County Council follow charges agreed with the Southern Screen Commission and County Hall.

For theatre groups, plays and concerts will cost 380 to hire stalls, and 475 for stalls and balcony for a four-hour period. For rehearsals a stalls only fee will be 138.

Exhibitions, sales and dances in the main hall will cost 610 and meetings and lectures in the main hall will cost from 235 for stalls only, to 320 for both.

Hire of the auditorium space, the Elizabeth Room and ground floor space is 47; the education room 18 and the terrace 40.

These fees can rise between 50 and 100 for Fridays, weekends and bank holidays.

Wedding ceremonies at the De La Warr will be charged at 126 on top of the hire of the Elizabeth Room.

Fees from additional hours can range from 9 weekdays to 100 at weekends.

Registered charities and regular hirers (those holding more than 10 events a year) will receive a 10 per cent discount.

Filming charges for Bexhill, Camber and Winchelsea beaches will be free for students, 160 for newspapers, magazines and shops, 270 for national newspapers and store promotions and 440 for international promotions.
