Pensioner and others left without phone for 12 days

A distraught daughter contacted police in Sussex from her home in Canada because she could not get through to her elderly mum on the phone and feared the worst.

It turned out that the Goring woman, who is disabled and has lung problems, had been without the lifeline of a telephone for almost two weeks following a fault, which cut off ten homes in Goring Way.
