The management team has been working on a reopening plan since soon after closure. It should lead to the venue opening to the public again from Thursday, July 9.

This is based on current Government rules which specify that leisure destinations cannot open before July 4 at the earliest. It comes with the caveat that the plans may have to be changed if the national situation alters.

The museum is almost totally dependent on volunteers for its running so the number of those able to resume duties in July is also a factor.

The museum normally opens seven days a week but at first opening days will be restricted and the opening times on those days will be shorter.

Measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the public and staff which will include social distancing and controlled entry. More details will be available nearer the date.
