Chichester couple celebrate Diamond Anniversary

Peter and Valerie Clark are celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary on October 27.

They were married in October 1962 at All Hallows Church in Tillington.

They were both local to the Petworth area and although they went to the same school, Tillington C of E, they eventually met up when they both joined the Tillington Players, Valerie as a chorus girl and Peter helped with the stage lighting.

They started married life living in the village but then moved to Donnington in March 1966 and their daughter Sarah was born in 1968.

Sarah remembers a very happy childhood and even though her parents worked full time they still found time to enjoy quality time together going away in their caravan.

Since 1990 Peter and Valerie have taken an active part in St George's Church, Donnington as Sidesmen with Peter doing some bell ringing although they have now both retired from their duties.

Valerie now runs the monthly Donnington Village Luncheon cooking for approximately 50 people which keeps them both busy and very active and enables them to meet and keep in touch with many of the local people.

They are looking forward to spending their special day enjoying a relaxing boat trip on the Chichester Canal followed by a dinner party in the evening with their daughter Sarah and son-in-law Peter and are being taken out for a special lunch on Sunday, October 30.
