The teenagers gathered in Horsham Park with placards to demonstrate their solidarity with others around the world following the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in the United States.

Mr Floyd died on May 25 in Minneapolis after white police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck, despite Mr Floyd saying he could not breathe.

One of the young organisers of the Horsham rally said it was a peaceful protest by ‘teenagers who want justice.’

And Christine De Lange, whose daughter took part in the event, said it was “one hundred per cent peaceful.”

She said most of the youngsters were pupils at Forest, Millais and Tanbridge schools.

The protesters sat in a circle with their placards before touring the park and into Horsham town centre.
