Sisters Izzy and Rosanna Anderson decided to ride their ponies the equivalent distance of scaling Mount Everest a number of times to raise money for St Michael’s Hospice.

Izzy, aged ten and Rosanna, aged eight, from Udimore have exceeded their £1,000 target, having raised more than £1,766.

Mum Penny said: “I used to assist in running the Rye and District Show, which was a huge fund-raiser for the hospice. It was cancelled last year and we are not sure if it will happen this year, so big holes to fill with fund raising.

“For Izzy and Rosanna the show was the highlight of their summer holiday. They could compete on their ponies in the knowledge it raised funds for the hospice, which helped their grandfather.

The girls came up with the idea to climb the 11 mile distance of Mount Everest, hoping to do it a number of times.”
