Nursery leader Chris Reseigh said: “After such a dismally wet start to the morning we were delighted the rain cleared before our races were due to start and Rother College kindly let us use their hard courts for the event so we were not racing in mud.”
More than 45 parents and grandparents arrived to watch the 30 children take part in the pancake day fun.

Hide AdMums and grandmothers had their own race as well. And after all the pancake tossing and races everyone went back to the nursery where some fresh batches of pancakes had been prepared for the contestants as well as a hot drink.
“Some of the children who couldn’t wait had already started nibbling at their pancake during the races,” said Chris.
“As always it was a great family event and one we have included in our nursery calendar since 1986 when we raced in the snow,” she added.
