Picturedrome in Bognor Regis closes for major revamp

A £40,000 revamp will enable film goers in Bognor Regis to watch the big screen in more comfort.

Screen two at the Picturedrome will be closed from Sunday, April 20,to enable the extensive refurbishment to take place.

The existing 100 seats will be ripped out and replaced by 75 modern seats to provide 12 inches of more legroom for everyone. The old seats, complete with ashtrays, are about 35 years old and were bought second-hand along with the carpet.

A new carpet and the installation of air conditioning will complete the luxurious surroundings.

Two new projectors are replacing the outdated models used for both the cinema's screens. The screens are also being cleaned.

Films which would have been on screen two will be transferred to the Alexandra Theatre.

A new digital Dolby surround sound projector has been bought for the theatre along with a 30ft screen. Once screen two re-opens in early May, the theatre will be used as a third screen of the Picturedrome to increase the choice of films being shown.
