Police identify woman killed in Ringmer house fire

A woman who died in a fire at her home in Ringmer on Friday (March 18) has been formally identified by police.

Eveline Betty Broughton, aged 98, was found by police and firefighters who were called to her house, on Broyle Lane, shortly before 5am on Friday morning. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a joint East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Sussex Police investigation, it has been established that the fire was non-suspicious.

Further enquiries are now in the hands of the coroner and an inquest will be held at a later date.
