Police motorcyclist breaks wrist after collision in Battle

The 40-year-old police officer received a broken wrist during a motorcycle training session when his marked motorbike collided with the car in Powdermill Lane at around 4.30pm on Monday afternoon.

An ambulance took the injured officer to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.

A 55-year-old woman from Staplecross, East Sussex, who was driving the Mini was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Chief Inspector Natalie Moloney, who oversees the Force’s Road Policing Unit said: “This was an unfortunate incident but luckily the officer and the member of the public did not receive life threatening injuries.

“We are in the process of investigating what happened during the training session to cause the collision. If you witnessed the incident or saw the police motorbike prior to the collision please call 101 quoting serial 1253 of 18/6.”

The motorbike was travelling within the 60mph speed limit for that road. The injured officer was with two other road policing officers all undertaking an advanced motorcycle course.
