Police probe town centre rape attack

The 18-year-old was attacked around the Amelia Park and Gratwicke Road area between 1.30am and 2.30am.

A section of Gratwicke Road was closed as police investigated the scene late into Tuesday morning.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen a couple arguing in the street.

The attacker is described as white, in his early 20s, about 6ft tall, with fair hair.

Detective Inspector Rob Walker, of Worthing CID, said: "We are actively investigating this incident. The information received indicates that the offender is known by the woman."
