Police sieze mopeds at Rye Harbour Reserve

MOPED riders tearing around Rye Harbour Nature Reserve have had their machines siezed by police.

Police responded to complaints about a moped and a mini-moto last Wednesday at 5.15pm and used powers of the section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 to confiscate both.

The owners will now need to pay the recovery company to have their vehicles released. A police spokesman said: “We’d like to remind all that riding or driving on Rye Harbour Nature Reserve without permission is forbidden and we will deal with anyone caught doing so in the appropriate manner, this will normally be a section 59 warning which will remain on record for 12 months, if caught driving anti socially again within those 12 months the vehicle can then be seized.”
