Remembering dear Derek

ST Michael's Hospice is launching the first in an annual series of Memorial Concerts to celebrate the contribution made by Derek Norcross, not only to St Michael's Hospice but also to the world of music within East Sussex.

With this in mind all the performers at the Concert had links with Derek, including Opera South East, St Paul's School Choir, Cantabile, St Michael's Singers and Hastings Stage Studio.

To celebrate the life and vitality that Derek Norcross brought to St Michael's Hospice, the inaugural Derek Norcross Memorial Concert will be held on Thursday September 13 at St John's Church, Pevensey Road, St Leonards.

Julian Avery, Chairman of St Michael's Hospice, said: "The board has thought long and hard about how we might honour his memory and have discussed our ideas with his widow, Audrey.

"We have decided to hold an annual concert in his name, thereby recognising not only the huge impact he had on St Michael's, but also linking his great love for music and all that he did for the many talented your performers within our Community. Please be sure to mark your diaries for what I'm sure will prove to be a very special occasion."

The Concert will be full and varied, reflecting some of Derek's many interests including Opera and Dance, Choral and Instrumental Music, Early Music and Songs from the Shows.

At the time of going to print the following had already agreed to take part in the Concert; St Paul's School Choir, Cantabile, The St Michael's Singers, Opera South East and the Hastings Stage Studio, all performers who were important to Derek.
